ASOBAL announced this Monday the eight top ranked teams of the first edition of the ASOBAL Legacy League (ALL), the environmental, social, and economic sustainability project of the professional competition (in alphabetical order), being the most outstanding clubs after successfully closing the first year of development and implementation of the ALL.
This ranking, parallel to the sports results of the Plenitude League 2024/2025, recognizes the eight clubs that have shown greater commitment and progress in the areas covered by the project promoted by ASOBAL. The ranking responds to an evaluation based on a system of definition and scoring of specific actions and projects aligned with the principles of the ASOBAL Legacy League. The areas that have been taken into account are.
The implementation of the ASOBAL project, a pioneer in Spain, which officially started before the start of the second round of the 2024/2025 season, has allowed the 16 clubs of the elite of Spanish male handball to launch different measurable and evaluable sustainability projects, providing them with tools to grow vertically and transversally. According to the President of ASOBAL, Servando Revuelta, "ALL - ASOBAL Legacy League, is a unique concept in Spain that allows to embody a differential aspect of ASOBAL in relation to other leagues and competitions, and that has been very well received by the clubs, also allowing greater interest from sponsors".
The list of the 8 top ranked clubs in the ALL Ranking is the first step of distinction of the process, and will have an extended continuation at the end of the 2025-26 Season with the publication of the Ranking of the first 8 (in order of scoring) and in the 2026-27 Season with the complete Ranking of the 16 clubs (in order of scoring).
"We are very pleased with the results of the first edition of the ASOBAL Legacy League, with the launch of the project. The involvement of the clubs has been total. They have been able to define and execute large-scale projects that will also have a direct impact on their communities. We all work together to make this impact increasingly greater," explained Servando Revuelta, president of ASOBAL.
The accompaniment to the clubs has been articulated in workshops, as well as with personalized mentorship sessions. The workshops have been complemented with training capsules on sustainability, marketing, sponsorship programs or sport business, among other strategic topics, enriching the cross-sectional vision of the project. The ASOBAL Legacy League and the work of its clubs, cornerstone of the project, reinforces the role of ASOBAL as a leading sports entity in the field of sustainability.
The professional competition is one of the only 8 entities of the national panorama that are part of the Sports for Climate Action program of the UN and one of the three only handball organizations at an international level in terms of sports sustainability, along with the Handball Bundesliga and the Füchse Berlin. The ASOBAL Legacy League is a commitment to generate a legacy that the ASOBAL clubs can develop, elevating the positive impact of handball on society, positioning itself as a motor of change. The ALL project will continue from this next summer. Starting from the 2025-2026 season, the clubs of the professional competition will develop their own project in collaboration with an association, foundation or entity linked to sustainability that generates a tangible impact in one of its three dimensions: economic, social or environmental.
