These are the candidates for best coach and breakthrough player of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL 25/26!

The ?All Star ASOBAL 25/26? activates this Monday the voting for the last two candidacies of the awards that recognize the talent, performance, and values of the great idols of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL: the best coach and the breakthrough player. Fans of the ASOBAL Community will be able to take part in the selection process through the exclusive survey on the ASOBAL WhatsApp channel, available from now until Thursday, June 25 at 10 a.m.

The five candidates to win the best coach award of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL are:

• Santi Urdiales (BM. Caserío Ciudad Real): the coach has delivered an outstanding debut season in Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL. Urdiales has been able to build a competitive BM. Caserío Ciudad Real team, which through a variety of resources and performance has reached the end of the calendar in eighth position, securing its stay in its first year as an ASOBAL team. 
• Jacobo Cuétara (Bathco BM. Torrelavega): the coach has consolidated Bathco BM. Torrelavega?s project in the elite for another season, being at times one of the most solid teams in the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL 25/26, bringing out the best version of players like Isidoro Martínez, nominated best center of the professional competition, or Jakub Prokop, one of the great shooters of the ASOBAL circuit.
• Álex Mozas (IRUDEK Bidasoa Irun): the Artaleku coach has led IRUDEK Bidasoa Irun to fourth place in the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL standings, finishing just one point shy of the runner-up spot, defining a solid defensive system and a wide range of attacking resources.
• Miguel Ángel Velasco (Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja): the coach has managed to maintain the strong finish of the 24/25 season of his Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja to become the proud runner-up of the current Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL.
• Carlos Ortega (Barça): the coach has led his Barça to the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL title, delivering flawless play and top-level performance. The blaugranas have lifted the championship trophy without losing a single match.

The five candidates to win the breakthrough player award of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL are:

• Mahmoud Abdelazize (Recoletas At. Valladolid): the player from the Egyptian national team has been one of the players who has grown the most during the season, establishing himself at Recoletas At. Valladolid and on the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL courts. Abdelazize, who has been part of the ?ideal 7 of the matchday? active roster, has increased his goals from 24 to 86 this season, with an average of 3.07 goals per matchday, being the fourth top scorer on his team. 
• Joan Blanco (SANICENTRO BM. Guadalajara): the central back from Vallès has shown his ability to break the balance and generate play in his debut in ASOBAL handball. Blanco was the fourth top scorer for SANICENTRO BM. Guadalajara with 76 goals, as well as contributing 65 assists to the team?s positional scheme. This figure placed him 11th in assists across the entire professional competition.
• David López (Tubos Aranda Villa de Aranda): the right back has been one of the season?s main protagonists for Tubos Aranda Villa de Aranda. At 22 years old, López has become indispensable on the front line, with a service record of 96 goals?37 more than in his debut campaign?the best figure on the squad, showcasing outside shooting and the ability to reach the six-meter line.
• Marcos Fis (Fraikin BM. Granollers): second nomination for the right back of Fraikin BM. Granollers in this edition of the ?All Star ASOBAL?. Fis was the third top scorer in the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL (164 goals), as well as providing 42 assists to the team. His impact on the game led him to become the first player in the history of the professional competition to win the MVP Nexus Energía award twice in the same season.
• Adrián Sola (Barça): the right wing from Navarra has established himself as a reliable player, with immediate impact and prominence in his second season in ASOBAL handball. Sola, 18 years old, went from a testimonial role in the 2024/2025 season (3 matches and 3 goals) to being the fourth top scorer of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL champion Barça, with 89 goals. 

Voting for the last candidacies

The ?ASOBAL Community? can participate from now on in the popular vote for the last two candidacies of the All Star ASOBAL 25/26. The rest of the awards and candidates will be published gradually, by positions and roles until June 24, during which the winners of each category will be progressively announced. The selection system reinforces the participatory and open nature of the All Star ASOBAL.

Fans? votes will represent 40% of the final result and will be conducted through the exclusive surveys enabled on the official ASOBAL WhatsApp channel (Access HERE), in line with the competition?s commitment to placing the fan at the center of the experience and strengthening direct connection with the professional handball community. This percentage will be added to the vote of the ASOBAL clubs (40%), channeled through the 16 captains, coaches, and a representative of the management or board of each entity, along with the criteria of specialized sports press (20%).

The candidates to be part of the ASOBAL ideal team have been selected based on a global evaluation of the individual statistics of the current Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL, their presence in the various sports recognition spaces (ideal 7, MVP of the Matchday, nominations for MVP NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL), performance within the collective scope, and the ability to embody the values of sportsmanship, commitment, dedication, and respect that characterize our sport. In the case of the breakthrough player and best coach categories, the impact on the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL 2025/26, sporting growth compared to previous seasons, achievement of relevant milestones within the professional competition record, as well as their direct contribution to the results and sporting successes achieved by their teams are also considered.
