The ASOBAL Legacy League (ALL), the sustainability competition of the professional league in the social, environmental, and economic-governance areas, closes its second edition with the publication of the ranking of the eight best positioned clubs in the 2025/26 season.
After a first half season during the 2024/2025 campaign, in which the project defined the working bases for the clubs and published a first top 8 of the most advanced in the field, without a defined order, the ASOBAL Legacy League now closes its first full season of development and implementation.
Bathco BM. Torrelavega leads the final ranking, followed by Barça and Bada Huesca. IRUDEK Bidasoa Irun, HORNEO BM. Alicante, Frigoríficos del Morrazo, Recoletas At. Valladolid, and BM Caserío Ciudad Real complete the ordered top 8 of the ASOBAL Legacy League 2025/26, in an edition in which all the professional league clubs participated.
Sustainability as a comprehensive and continuous competition
The ASOBAL Legacy League, driven by ASOBAL in its strategic commitment to becoming a sustainable league, together with its clubs, in a process of continuous professionalization and impact on their ecosystems, evaluates ASOBAL clubs on ten criteria ranging from governance and transparency to the implementation of their own sustainable projects alongside external partners, articulated in various dimensions of social and environmental impact.
In this second edition, the clubs have taken a step forward in projecting and implementing all those initiatives that generate a legacy, both for the club itself, its locality, its fan community, and for Spanish handball.
“With the ASOBAL Legacy League we are consolidating a modern, responsible league identity consistent with the challenges of today’s professional sport. This project is not only a dimension parallel to the sporting competition but a real transformation tool for the management model of our clubs. Its evolution shows that sustainability is no longer a complementary element but a structural axis of the ASOBAL project, capable of generating measurable impact in territories, strengthening our professional model, and consolidating ASOBAL as a national benchmark in responsible governance and sustainable development.”, declared Servando Revuelta, president of ASOBAL.
Throughout the 2025/26 season, all 16 ASOBAL clubs have completed and participated in five training and follow-up workshops through the ASOBAL Hub project, the continuous support space of the professional competition towards its clubs. These are group sessions and individualized mentoring where a series of tools and methodologies are provided, both in the field of sustainability in sport and in various sports management topics, so that clubs can use them in the development of the different initiatives they carry out within their own organization.
Additional recognitions for a season of sustainable impact
Alongside the general ranking, the ALL recognizes three individual awards in this edition. The Communication Award goes to Bada Huesca, in recognition of its trajectory in disseminating sustainable initiatives through multiple channels throughout the season. The Sustainable Project Award goes to Barça, the club that has developed the collaboration project with its partner, in this case the Fundació Barça, with the highest level of planning and follow-up. And the Most Innovative Initiatives Award is received by Recoletas At. Valladolid, distinguished for having implemented the most original proposals of the season according to the analysis of the reports presented by all the clubs.
The ALL: a recognized and expanding model
The ALL also adds external recognition to the project this season. In October 2025, ASOBAL was awarded the Sustainability Action 2025 prize in the Organizations and Education category, one of the most relevant recognitions in the field of sustainability in Spain, positioning ASOBAL as a pioneering national benchmark in sports sustainability.
The ASOBAL Legacy League is already starting to plan its third season, 2026/27, in which all 16 clubs will be fully ranked, and in which the commitment to continue on the established path so far, making sustainability a pivotal pillar in the strategy of clubs and the professional league itself, will be more defined than ever, seeking collaboration and cooperation among clubs, institutions, partners, and sponsors.
