The new Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja of Miguel Ángel Velasco begins preseason

The runners-up of the last edition of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL have kicked off this week to prepare for a highly exciting season. Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja, which months ago led the team ‘All Star ASOBAL’ with four representatives (Xoan Ledo as best goalkeeper, Álvaro Preciado as best center, Álvaro Martínez as best pivot, and Miguel Ángel Velasco as best coach) has already returned to work and trained for the first time at the Palacio de los Deportes de la Rioja after the traditional round of medical check-ups. 

A first session that lays the foundations for this upcoming year of domestic and European competition and that featured the presence of four of the team's new signings: Nicolo D’Antino (RW), Samuel Saiz (LW), Martín “Tincho” Jung (center), Gustavo Oliveira (LW). Raw material directly linked to the competitiveness and talent of the ASOBAL territory to strengthen every line of the Riojan project.

First training sessions

Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja will play its first minutes of this preseason within the framework of the Egia International Handball Tournament, first against Bathco BM. Torrelavega led by Jacobo Cuétara on August 12 and against Fénix Toulouse two days later, on August 14. The first friendly in front of their home crowd will be on August 21 against the Japanese Toyoda Gosei, an international scale test to keep gaining rhythm and fine-tune the technical mechanisms of Miguel Ángel Velasco’s board, the current best coach in ASOBAL handball.

The last summer test will be against another professional competition team, Viveros Herol BM. Nava coached by Carlos Villagrán, on August 28. Then, everything will be ready for their official debut in Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL against Barça, a major match to start the ASOBAL handball 2026/2027 season.
