The Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL closed the 2025/26 season with more than 8.3 million live viewers, surpassing the records of previous seasons and consolidating the growth of its audiovisual reach at the national level. In its commitment to expanding the visibility of professional handball, the competition recorded a total of 459 live broadcasts through LALIGA+ and free-to-air coverage on TVE (Teledeporte and RTVE Play), as well as up to five regional and autonomous channels.
The ‘Match of the Day’ on TVE was once again one of the main platforms for broadcasting the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL. The 22 live broadcasts aired on Teledeporte during the 2025/26 season generated 6.58 million cumulative contacts and an average of 299,181 contacts per match. The widespread growth also extended to TVE’s thematic channel, where the average audience of the broadcasts increased by 17.9% compared to the previous season, while the cumulative average reached 798,000 viewers.
The ‘Great derby’ between Fraikin BM. Granollers and Barça was the most-watched broadcast of the season on Teledeporte. The sporting development of the match reached nearly 600,000 live viewers and had an average audience of 71,000 viewers. These figures were complemented by 57,000 viewers in simulcast and 38,000 in delayed viewing (contacts), becoming the highest record of the competition in the 2025/26 season.
The broadcast of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL also had the support of autonomous and regional operators, reinforcing the free-to-air presence of the competition in different markets. In this context, TV3, Castilla-La Mancha Media, Castilla y León TV (La 8 Valladolid and La 8 Burgos), and Aragón TV complemented the coverage during the season, accompanying the positive evolution of audiences throughout the campaign.
ASOBAL expands its international audiovisual presence
In addition to the national broadcast, the international projection of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL adds up, which during the 2025/26 season has continued to expand its presence in foreign markets through various broadcast agreements, including the one signed with Fox Sports in Argentina for the weekly broadcast of the most outstanding match of each round during the 36th edition of the professional championship, as well as the coverage of the program ‘Handball de Primera’, aired on Fox Sports’ YouTube channel with 196,000 subscribers.
