The ASOBAL Legacy League, awarded for its social and environmental impact in the Sustainability Action 2025.

The ASOBAL Legacy League, the sustainable project driven by ASOBAL, has been recognized with the Sustainability Action 2025 award in the Organizations and Education category, one of the most prestigious awards in the field of Sustainability in Spain. This recognition values the vision, impact and commitment of ASOBAL to social, environmental and economic-governance sustainability in professional sports. The award, delivered this Tuesday during the Sustainability Day 25 held at the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid, distinguishes ASOBAL's ability to integrate sustainability at the heart of its institutional strategy, making professional handball of Spanish clubs a European and global benchmark in matters of sustainability.

“This award recognizes the work of the entire ASOBAL family (clubs, players, coaches, sponsors and institutions) who believe that sport should be a driver of social and environmental change”, noted Servando Revuelta, president of ASOBAL, after receiving the award in front of more than 600 sustainability sector leaders. “Sustainability is part of our identity and the ASOBAL Legacy League is the tool that allows us to measure, share and amplify that collective impact”, he added.

The ASOBAL Legacy League, driven by ASOBAL last season, represents a new competition model that complements the sports classification of the NEXUS ENERGY ASOBAL League with a ranking based on sustainable performance, both at the environmental, social and economic-governance level of the clubs. This pioneering initiative has allowed the organization to generate synergies with institutions and sponsoring companies, foster social innovation and make visible the commitment of the teams to their environment. Thanks to this structure, ASOBAL has managed to transform sustainability into a tangible axis of its management, with measurable and assessable results that transcend the sporting.

The granting of the Sustainability Action 2025, organized by Custommedia, editor of the media CompromisoRSE and Equipos&Talento, confirms the role of ASOBAL as a reference in a sport committed to sustainability in all its areas: social, environmental and economic-governance. The recognition, selected among more than 2,000 initiatives from companies, administrations and Spanish organizations, consolidates ASOBAL in a select group of entities recognized for their contribution to sustainable development, alongside organizations such as Iberdrola, Banco Santander, BBVA, Action Against Hunger or the Government of Navarra, awarded in previous editions for their social and environmental impact.

With this award, ASOBAL reaffirms its position as one of the eight Spanish sports entities adhered to the UN's Sports for Climate Action program, and one of the only three international handball organizations with a structured sustainability plan, along with the Handball Bundesliga and the Füchse Berlin. The ASOBAL Legacy League thus consolidates itself as a transversal and institutional project, which elevates the social value of the competition and projects the ASOBAL brand beyond the sporting field, aligning it with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
