The ASOBAL League launches the ASOBAL Hall of Fame, the timeless space of excellence of Spanish handball to pay tribute and preserve the legacy of the most important players, coaches, referees and professionals in its history. ASOBAL premieres this project within the framework of its 40th anniversary - which begins on May 18 - and after the first months of competition with the 'Professional League' seal.
The 2024 class will be the first to enter the Hall of Fame after a selection process that will consist of three parts. The first point goes to the Merits Commission, an entity made up of a selection of historic clubs, authorities and sports associations with a direct link to the ASOBAL competition. The Commission will be responsible for defining the list of nominees for this edition.
To be considered a candidate to enter this space of recognition, the professional must have served at least 5 seasons in the ASOBAL League, must have retired at least 5 years before his nomination - being valid posthumous nominations -; sporting merits and the ability to champion the values of our sport will be taken into account.
Once the shortlist of nominees is defined respecting all the criteria, a two-phase voting process begins this Thursday, April 18. On the one hand, an election process by a jury of experts from the world of sports and Spanish handball, led by the President of ASOBAL, Servando Revuelta. Finally, and following the same dates, a popular vote will be initiated open to fans through the ASOBAL League website. The deadline to receive votes is next Sunday, April 28 and the final results will be made public on May 7. In this way, the induction ceremony to the ASOBAL Hall of Fame will take place on May 27, during the celebration of the ASOBAL Gala.
