Recoletas Salud At. Valladolid already prepares for the NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL 26/27 season at Huerta del Rey

Recoletas Salud Atlético Valladolid has returned to work this week to thoroughly prepare for the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL 2026/2027. With the goal of continuing to grow and improving on the great achievements of last season - fourth place at the end of the first half and sixth place in the final standings - David Pisonero's team is already training with strength and endurance sessions and physical tests at the Río Esgueva facilities and the Huerta del Rey Sports Center.

The first objective of the Blue Gladiators is to gradually regain their peak form to reach cruising speed for the professional competition debut (September 12/13). “The players have come back very well, practically as we finished last year, it is true that these days involve a lot of physical load and running, but we are very happy. The goal is to take it step by step, but this year it will be very difficult to surpass that fourth place at the halfway point and finish sixth. It was a very good year but why not, we will try to improve it a little and keep dreaming,” explained captain César Pérez in statements to the Valladolid club’s website.

It will not be until this Thursday that Pisonero leads the first technical training on the court, focused on dusting off the offensive and defensive tactical mechanisms that define the Valladolid team. All with the presence of three of the new signings, Benedek Nagy, Ignacio Suárez, and Asier Iribar, who are already part of the group’s dynamics. Sergio Sánchez and Álex Colón will join training next week after competing this summer in the Junior European Championship in Romania with the Spanish national team.

Eight matches to prepare for the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL

Recoletas Salud Atlético Valladolid will round off their summer work with 8 friendly matches before facing REBI Balonmano Cuenca in the first round of the new Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL season. The first test will be on August 7 in Oñati (Guipúzcoa) against Bathco BM. Torrelavega. One week later, Pisonero’s squad will face the Portuguese team Águia Santas on Friday (August 14) and will take part in the 2026 Cantabria International Tournament from August 20 to 22 in Santander, playing against One Veszprém HC, Bathco BM. Torrelavega again, and one more opponent depending on the results.

The following week, Recoletas Salud Atlético Valladolid will play a triangular tournament in Torrelavega on Saturday, August 29, marking their third match of this preparation against another ASOBAL team, also facing Tubos Aranda Villa de Aranda. The Blue Gladiators’ last preparation match will be against BM. Caserío Ciudad Real in Albacete on Friday, September 4.
