A legend of our sport says goodbye. Julen Aginagalde closes the circle of his professional career at the club of his life, Bidasoa Irun, completing a successful stage of 24 years at the elite (1999-2023). The pivot from Irun has left his mark defending the Bidasoa shirt, as well as having been part of BM. Atlético de Madrid, BM. Ciudad Real and Ademar León. At the ASOBAL Gala that has closed the 2022/2023 season, Aginagalde has conveyed to ASOBAL the emotion of seeing his number 13 retired in Artaleku.

“It was very clear, a very thoughtful decision and with time, it has given me that tranquility to reach this moment and have it more than clear. In the end it was not a decision from one day to another, I have been savoring many things, places, courts where I have played many matches and I have enjoyed it for the last time. I had it very clear since the moment I left Bidasoa, at many times people thought that I was not serious, but I always had in my head that I wanted to retire in Bidasoa and I have been lucky to have achieved it. I feel a lot of responsibility, it is a bit overwhelming with all the great players who have passed through Bidasoa that they retire my shirt and I am very grateful. I would like to be remembered as someone who gave everything on the court”.
