Jakub Prokop named Best Left Back of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL 2025/2026

Jakub Prokop Bathco, from Bathco BM. Torrelavega, has been chosen as the Best Left Back of the 36th NEXUS ENERGY ASOBAL League, an award that recognizes the excellent level shown by the Slovak international throughout the season, adding his name to the list as the third member of the All Star ASOBAL 2025/26. Through these awards, the Professional League honors the players and coaches who have shaped the development of the championship, while highlighting the work of the clubs and the level of a competition that is consolidating itself as the main showcase of Spanish men's professional handball.

The player of the ‘Orange Squad’ has been one of the main offensive references of the championship, finishing the season in ninth place in the top scorers ranking with 130 goals, the second-best record among the left backs in the competition. His ability to take a leading role in attack and his consistency have been decisive for the performance of the Cantabrian team, key with 30.67% of the votes in the voting process, divided between the popular phase (40%), the decision of the managers, coaches, and captains of the professional competition teams (40%), and the specialized press (20%), prevailing over the other candidates.

Javier Domingo, from BM Caserío Ciudad Real (23.14%) and Andrej Pergel, from Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja (17.24%), complete a podium that leaves James Lewis Parker of HORNEO BM. Alicante and Joao Bandeira, from Viveros Herol BM Nava as fourth and fifth respectively.

Prokop thus proclaims himself for the first time as the Best Left Back of the professional competition, taking over from the legendary Antonio García who won the last four awards in the mentioned position with Fraikin BM Granollers. In his fourth season in the NEXUS ENERGY ASOBAL League, the second with the orange team, Prokop was also a candidate for the NEXUS ENERGY ASOBAL MVP of the month of November, reflecting the great form he showed during the championship. With his 130 goals, the left back signs the second-best scoring record of his career in the top tier of Spanish handball, consolidating himself as one of the most decisive players of the season.

This recognition crowns an outstanding campaign for the Bathco BM. Torrelavega player, whose influence on his team’s offensive play has led him to be distinguished as the best specialist in his position.
