The new Bathco BM Torrelavega has already been set in motion. The new project, led by Jacobo Cuétara, launched its preseason this Monday, the fourth as a member of the current Plenitude League, with the asterisk of competing for the first time, also, in the EHF European League. The team, the first to return to work of the entire state competition, wants to lay the foundations for a year marked by excitement and demand.
"We start a day earlier than usual to begin with, which means an extra week of preseason. This responds to the need to cohere the group. We are a new technical body and a large part of the squad is also new, so until we achieve it, we will play with that deficit compared to other teams. We will seek progression in training, although always with high quality and continuity. It is important to avoid setbacks in the form of injuries so that no one misses sessions. It is a short period of time but sensitive in content, starting almost from scratch,” commented Jacobo Cuétara, making a first evaluation of the Orange Squad's preseason.
Competing in preseason
The team returns to work determined to recover its physical tone, with six days of training throughout this week, apart from a double session routine for Tuesday and Thursday. Torrelavega will play its first match of the summer on August 10 in Luanco against Recoletas Atlético Valladolid. Its second commitment will be the dispute of the Cantabria Infinita International Club Tournament in Santander. Outside La Albericia, and with Torrelavega immersed in its patron saint festivities, the Torrelavega team will face SG BBM Bietigheim, a German team newly promoted to the Bundesliga, on the 16th. The tournament will close the next day and will feature Blendio Sinfín and Barlinek Industria Kielce. Cuétara's team will continue its preparation in Segovia against Viveros Herol BM Nava on August 21. That same weekend, Saturday the 24th, will be the team's debut in front of their audience. The Vicente Trueba will host its traditional summer tournament with the presence of the promoted Tubos Aranda Villa de Aranda, the UBU San Pablo Burgos and the Amenabar Zarautz ZKE.
