A total of five ASOBAL teams will compete in the European competition next season. IRUDEK Bidasoa Irun has joined Barça, Fraikin BM. Granollers, Bathco BM. Torrelavega and ABANCA Ademar León in the group of representatives of the elite of Spanish men's handball clubs after accepting the European Handball Federation (EHF) their request to be part of the European League.
The team led by Álex Mozas, in this way, will once again compete in the continental competition after their great performance in this last course, reaching the quarterfinals, fighting to be part of the 'final four' that decided the champion. Their performance and that of the rest of the teams that have shone and will shine the ASOBAL seal in Europe, represents the work and structural growth that the clubs of the professional competition are carrying out.
ASOBAL is the second national league with the most points in the ranking prepared by the EHF taking into account the performance of the clubs in the competitions of the old continent during the 2023/2024, 2022/2023 and 2021/2022 seasons. It occupies the second position with 273.33 points accumulated by its teams, ahead of Poland (212.66), France (206.33), Denmark (202.33), Hungary (201.33) and Portugal (143.67), only behind the Bundesliga. The elite of Spanish men's handball clubs, in addition, was last season the domestic league with the most representatives in the European League alongside the Bundesliga and one of those present in the final phase of the EHF Champions League in Cologne by the hand of Barça.
