Handball returns to LALIGA+ and RTVE, through Teledeporte, with the restart of the competition and the start of the second half of the NEXUS ENERGY ASOBAL League. The league is back, and so are the television broadcasts, where handball and sport fans in general will be able to follow all the coverage of the second part of the 36th edition of a NEXUS ENERGY ASOBAL League that continues to grow in its competitive product, raising interest with record attendance and audience figures.
With 15 dates ahead and 120 matches to be played, the competition promises extreme emotions to break the equality that currently reflects the classification. With Barça leading the classification, the excitement multiplies in a mid-high area where the fight for the European places is concentrated on six candidates separated by a single victory, or what is the same, just two points difference. An equality that also moves to the mid-low area of the table, where the fight for survival keeps on edge nine teams, whose scores are grouped in a range of just five points, anticipating a second half marked by tension and tight outcomes round after round.
The action, available in its entirety through LALIGA's OTT, returns this Saturday, February 7th with the start of Matchday 16, and will continue until the end of May, when the competition will close all its pending chapters. In addition, RTVE, live and free-to-air, will broadcast the best matches of each matchday, starting with the match between Caserío Ciudad Real - IRUDEK Bidasoa Irún next Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. Matches like Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja - Bathco Torrelavega (Saturday, February 14th, 8:30 p.m.) and ABANCA Ademar León - IRUDEK Bidasoa Irun (Saturday, February 21st, 6:00 p.m.) will continue to set the pace of the 'Matches of the Day' in the second half, consolidating the visibility of the competition and bringing each match closer to the fans.
On a territorial level, the regional broadcasts reinforce the audiovisual coverage of the professional league in the different regions, bringing the competition closer to local supporters, while on an international level, ASOBAL maintains multiple broadcasting agreements, such as the one recently reached with Fox Sports Argentina, expanding its projection and consolidating the audiovisual strategy of professional Spanish handball.
Professionalization is reflected on the screen
The evolution of the professional handball league is consolidated through a clearly upward trend in its different broadcast windows. Since the start of its new professional stage in the 2023/24 season, the following on LALIGA+ has experienced a cumulative growth of 21.1%. In the year-on-year analysis, the OTT platform maintains a sustained progression (+5%), while the exposure on free-to-air television reinforces this dynamic with an increase of 9% in the average audience on Teledeporte, confirming the positive impact of the greater visibility of the championship and the increase in the competitive attractiveness of the League.
