Five debutants and five teams represented in the ASOBAL All-Star Team.

The ASOBAL League announced this Monday the 'All-Star Team' for the 2023-2024 season, which includes a total of five debutants and representation from five different teams of the Plenitude League. Adrián Casqueiro (best left winger), Nacho Valles (best central), Carlos Álvarez (best right winger), Esteban Salinas (best pivot) and Petar Cikusa (breakthrough player) make their debut in the best team of the highest competition of Spanish men's handball clubs, completed by Antonio García (best left back), Dika Mem (best right back), Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas (best goalkeeper), Antonio Rama (best coach) and Thiagus Petrus (best defender).

The selection process, which has taken into account the vote of the fans, representatives of the ASOBAL clubs and the national press, has highlighted -even more- the plurality of talent that exists in the Plenitude League, defining a perfect combination of perennial legends and new idols of our sport. They will all receive their trophy during the ASOBAL 2024 Gala, which will be held in Valladolid (Madison Arena) on May 27th.

Barça, the current champion, is the team with the most players in the 'All-Star' (4), followed by Fraikin BM. Granollers (2), ABANCA Ademar León (2), Bidasoa Irun (1) and TM Benidorm (1). The blaugrana team is once again led by Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas, who has won in the best goalkeeper category with 39.34% of the votes ahead of Emil Nielsen (32.13%) and Roberto Rodríguez (17.25%). This is the ninth 'All-Star ASOBAL' distinction in the career of the player from Toledo, the eighth in a row. Dika Mem has five (18-19, 19-20, 20-21, 21-22 and 23-24), awarded with the best right back award (56.07% in the election phase), and Thiagus Petrus, four in a row, signing 46.75% of the votes in the best defender category in this current edition.

Petar Cikusa, on the other hand, makes his debut in the excellence space of the course after receiving 52.79% of the support registered in the breakthrough player category. Granollers celebrates the sixth designation of its captain Antonio García -the fourth in a row, fifth wearing the colors of the Catalan club-, being the absolute protagonist of the blanqu-i-blue season. The Spanish international has been the most valued left back (38.95%) ahead of Asier Nieto (28.50%) in a close fight. The election of Antonio Rama as the best coach of the Plenitude League, who adds three awards to his showcases, was extremely equal. The coach won with 24.49% of the votes, ahead of Álvaro Senovilla (22.12%), Jacobo Cuétara (22.09%), Ángel Velasco (19.30%) and Carlos Ortega (12.01%).

The corners of the 'All-Star' are signed by Ademar León. Carlos Álvarez and Adrián Casqueiro make their first appearance in an All-Star ASOBAL after having a great season and receiving 51.52% and 29.77% of the votes (ahead of Hampus Wanne, second with 23.84%), respectively. Same debutants condition for Nacho Valles and Esteban Salinas. The TM Benidorm player has been named the best central of the season (29.52% in the selection process) in a beautiful fight with Juan Castro (25.92%) and Bruno Reguart (23.51%). Salinas' work on the six-meter line, on the other hand, has earned him the trophy for the best pivot for the first time with 35.18% of the votes.
