ASOBAL and the Spanish Commission for Anti-Doping in Sport (CELAD) have organized a training day with coaches, captains and members of the medical team of the Plenitude League clubs, continuing the common project between the two entities to maintain a healthy, fair and clean practice in elite handball.
The protagonists of professional competition have attended a telematic session led by Carolina García González, head of the Department of Anti-Doping Prevention Policies in Sport, focused on the most generic aspect of the fight against doping, from the creation of international regulations to the rights and responsibilities of ASOBAL teams.
“During the last century, there was no harmonized regulation regarding doping. In 1999, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was founded, with the participation of the International Olympic Committee and the state governments from all over the world. From there, an international anti-doping program is launched, whose main instrument is the world anti-doping code, which sets the action and current regulations," explained Carolina García, contextualizing the current global anti-doping fight system.
The training project continues
This is the second group workshop that has been held this season within the agreement that the Professional League and CELAD signed months ago and that will continue -at least- until 2028. The next edition will be held in the coming weeks, also with the presence of players, coaches and medical staff from the Plenitude League clubs, and will deal with therapeutic use authorizations.
