Bathco BM. Torrelavega returns to Vicente Trueba and prepares for debut in Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL 26/27

The new sports project of Bathco BM. Torrelavega kicked off its preseason this Monday, laying the foundation to face the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL 26/27 with the utmost ambition, the sixth in the club's history. The ‘Orange Squad’ has outlined a summer schedule with up to 9 friendly matches to ensure competitive rhythm and sharpness ahead of the professional competition debut.

“It is a long preseason due to the competition start dates. It includes three prestigious tournaments such as Egia, Cantabria, and our own at home. We start the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL as visitors, and it is important for us to prepare for competing away from home in a very demanding preseason,” explains Jacobo Cuétara on the orange squad’s website.

The coach, nominated in the last edition of the 'All Star ASOBAL', was able to lead the first session of the season at Vicente Trueba with the presence of the signings and new squad members: Saeid Barkhordari, Diego Gándara, Rangel Luan, Mikael Lopes, Pedro Berrío, and Frank Cordiés. High-level reinforcements, returns to ASOBAL territory, and competition talent to face an important season for the team, which will also compete in the EHF European League.

A preseason of great rivals

Bathco BM. Torrelavega will play its first test at the Egia tournament on August 12 and 13 against Dicorpebal Logroño La Rioja, the current ASOBAL runner-up, and Fénix Toulouse, respectively. The next two matches will take place within the TIC Cantabria Infinita 2026 (from August 19 to 22) against Poland’s Industria Kielce, Hungary’s One Vezsprem coached by Xavi Pascual, and France’s PAUC Handball, as well as facing Blendio Sinfín and Recoletas Salud Atlético Valladolid.

One week later, on August 29, Jacobo Cuétara’s team will compete against Tubos Aranda Villa de Aranda and Recoletas Salud Atlético Valladolid as hosts of the XIV Ayuntamiento de Torrelavega International Handball Tournament. An ASOBAL hallmark event to prepare for the first Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL match, which will be on September 12/13 at Pitiu Rochel against EON BM. Alicante.
