A total of 14 of the 17 players who have been part of the national team have played minutes in the last edition of the Liga Plenitude, highlighting the competitive level and the training work of the clubs that make up the elite of Spanish men's handball. Alvaro Perez and Javier Miñambres (ABANCA Ademar Leon); Pau Panitti, Ferran Castillo, Pablo Guijarro and Victor Romero (Fraikin BM. Granollers); Petar Cikusa, Djordje Cikusa, Ian Barrufet and Oscar Grau (Barça); Xavi González, Josu Arzoz (SCDR Anaitasuna); Pablo Herrero (Atletico Valladolid) and Jokin Aja Garate (CD Torrebalonmano) have been the continental champions.
Representation of the Liga Plenitude on the court, with 14 players from 6 different clubs, and in the technical staff of Javier Fernández, teaming up with Alex Mozas, who will be making his debut next season as the new coach of Bidasoa Irun, current league runner-up. The responsibility with the ball in their hands has fallen on Petar Cikusa, who has again shown that he is destined to be one of the great names of the ASOBAL label in the next decade. The revelation player of the last edition of the Liga Plenitude, author of 54 goals in 26 matches, has been named MVP of the European after collecting high-level performances.
Cikusa and Xavier González, MVP and best right winger
Cikusa already leads the list of young talents in the competition, at the level of other great players like the blanc-i-blaus and pupils of Antonio Rama (best coach of the Liga Plenitude) Ferran Castillo (11 goals in 11 shots in the final against Portugal) and Victor Romero, or Xavier González. The international from Helvetia Anaitasuna has entered the ideal team of the tournament, completing an excellent individual record: best right winger in European championship in 2022 and 2024 and best winger in the world youth championship in 2023. Thus, the group picture has generated a generation marked by successes. The success in the European championship comes a year after the gold in the Youth World Championship, the first in the history of the training team.
