ASOBAL launches the ‘I ASOBAL Microrrelatos Competition’ on the occasion of Children's Day (April 15) and Book Day (April 23), with the aim of promoting creativity, artistic expression and the bond of the youngest with handball. Through the initiative, the professional handball league in Spain opens up a new way for children and young people aged 9 to 16 (born between 2010 and 2017, inclusive) to tell their own stories inspired by this sport.
Under the concept ‘Stories that are also played’, the proposal invites participants to put on paper the emotion, experiences and values inherent in handball and the NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL League. Because the competition is not only played on the court: it is lived intensely in the stands, it remains in memory and is transformed into stories that accompany those who feel it closely, building a narrative that transcends the game and is part of its essence.
From a last-second goal to an unforgettable afternoon in the pavilion, through the dream of making a debut in the top competition, or the evolution of handball and the competition to its new dimension of a professional league, the micro-stories can capture any experience, memory or inspiration related to handball and ASOBAL. In this way, ASOBAL values these stories that are born around the sport and that are also an essential part of its identity.
A project that brings together sport, culture and values and gives voice to new generations
This initiative is part of the strategy of ASOBAL and the clubs that make it up to reinforce their commitment to education, culture and the transmission of values through sport. In addition, it presents an opportunity to give voice to new generations of fans, inviting them to be an active part of the ASOBAL universe through their own stories. Book Day thus becomes the ideal context to promote writing as a tool for expression and sport as a source of inspiration, creating a meeting point between culture and handball in the ASOBAL Community.
How to participate
Children and young people in the children's/youth category (born between 2010 and 2017, inclusive), can participate in the ‘I ASOBAL Microrrelatos Competition’ with a single story per author. The works can be presented in any narrative format (story, tale or poetry), as long as they are inspired by handball and/or the NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL League.
The texts must be original and unpublished, not have been submitted to other competitions and be written in Spanish, with a length of between 500 and 1,000 words.
The works can be sent by email to concursos@asobal.es, in Word or PDF format, or by mail to the ASOBAL headquarters (Calle Fontsanta, 46 – Third D, 08970 Sant Joan Despí, Barcelona), always with legible handwriting in case of physical shipment.
In both cases, the shipment must include the complete story with title, as well as the author's data: name and surname, date of birth, email, postal address and contact telephone. Likewise, it will be necessary to attach the required documentation (signed acceptance of participation document and copy of ID), as well as parental or legal guardian authorization in the case of children under 14 years old.
