ASOBAL joins the Spanish Association against Cancer in the 'Bracelets of Hope' campaign.

The Plenitude League joins the teams of LALIGA EA SPORTS, LALIGA HYPERMOTION and the Endesa League in the 'Hope Armbands' action led by the Spanish Association against Cancer, under the umbrella of the initiative 'Everyone against Cancer', which works to achieve a survival rate of 70% in diagnosed cases for the year 2030. The initiative will take place this upcoming weekend, coinciding with the celebration of World Cancer Day, which takes place on Sunday, February 4, and will be transferred to all the matches of matchday 16 of the top category of Spanish men's handball clubs.

The teams of the competition will debut the second half of the 2023/2024 season wearing a green ribbon on their shirts as a "symbol of hope", a tangible element to demonstrate the need to continue joining efforts in the face of the "most important health and social problem worldwide" and which diagnosed 295,000 new cases in Spain during 2023, according to the Spanish Association Against Cancer.

The objective of the campaign is, therefore, to change the symbol of mourning for that of hope and survival. The staging will start on Friday with the matches between Ángel Ximénez Puente Genil - ABANCA Ademar León and Bathco BM. Torrelavega - Fertiberia Puerto Sagunto, and will end with the dispute of the Helvetia Anaitasuna - REBI Handball Cuenca, through the 16th edition of 'The Match of the Day', which will face Barça and Bidasoa Irun (Saturday 3, 5pm) with the league leadership at stake. ASOBAL is committed to being part of the solution in the fight against cancer and to help reverse these figures, which predict that a case will be diagnosed every 1.8 minutes in the year 2030 in our country.

ASOBAL's commitment continues

This weekend's initiative, which coincides with the start of the second half of the sports calendar for the season, will continue its social responsibility project and the collaboration agreement between ASOBAL and the Spanish Association against Prostate Cancer from last November, within the framework of the latest edition of the 'Movember' movement.
