The Spanish Professional Handball Clubs League – ASOBAL joins the commemoration of World Breast Cancer Day, celebrated today, October 19, with an awareness and support initiative for those affected and their surroundings. The action will take place within the framework of Matchday 7 of the NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL League, aiming to raise visibility for the fight against this disease and promote awareness about its prevention through professional handball.

The initiative will kick off this Friday, October 23, with the ‘Match of the Day’ between IRUDEK Bidasoa Irun and BM. Caserío Ciudad Real (7:00 PM RTVE Play, Eurosport, ASOBAL TV, and Siroko TV), one of the most high-profile clashes of the seventh matchday, and will extend to the remaining seven matches of the seventh round of the professional championship, which will be played on October 23, 24, and 25. During all the matches, participants will wear a pink armband as a symbol of support for the fight against breast cancer. Additionally, ASOBAL will temporarily adapt the visual identity of its digital channels, where pink, the emblematic color of this cause, will replace the ASOBAL corporate blue.

This initiative continues the work carried out by ASOBAL and its clubs in recent years to raise awareness of various social causes, in line with the commitment to sustainability outlined in the ASOBAL Legacy League (ALL), the sustainable identity of the professional competition that encompasses initiatives in the social, environmental, and governance areas. In this context, ASOBAL has promoted awareness actions on issues such as the fight against cancer, gender violence, and inclusion, among others, reaffirming its commitment to leveraging the potential of professional handball as a platform for awareness and support.
