ASOBAL and CELAD organize a new training workshop for clubs in the competition.

The ASOBAL clubs have attended the third workshop given by the Spanish Commission for the Fight Against Doping in Sport (CELAD), continuing the agreement they signed months ago the professional competition and the State Anti-Doping Agency to maintain fair and healthy practice that characterizes Spanish elite handball. Coral Fernández, head of division at CELAD, has been, in this case, the one in charge of leading the conference in telematic format, focused on Therapeutic Use Authorizations as the main theme and which has had the participation of captains, coaches and medical staff of the teams that make up the current ASOBAL League.

"The World Anti-Doping Agency is the one that sets all the rules related to doping. It is the one that ensures that the 30 laboratories that analyze doping comply with the regulations. We have assumed that doping is when an athlete is detected a prohibited substance. It is so, but there are ten more infringements of the anti-doping rules, related to the athlete and related to the support staff", Coral Fernández has explained, recovering the photograph of context and basic knowledge of the system that fights against doping, exposing each case that implies a violation of the established regulations.

The collaboration with CELAD has defined a program of trainings, management of educational content and conferences so that ASOBAL professionals have all the necessary information to exercise their work safely and responsibly. For this, CELAD provides all kinds of training and multiplatform material that informs about the different scenarios that are generated around the competition.

"What happens if I have an athlete who for whatever circumstances, temporary or chronic, has to take a medication that is prohibited and is included in the list of prohibited substances and methods? Then a therapeutic use authorization must be requested so that he can use that substance and, when he is going to be controlled, he has no problem. This authorization depends on the level of competition of the athlete (whether it is national or international competition). Then it will vary between asking for the authorization between the National CAUT or the International Federation (IHF)", Coral Fernández has insisted, exposing how, by what means and in what way the authorization in question should be requested, also putting the focus on the list of prohibited substances and methods or the existence and use of the NDopApp application or the so-called 'NoDopWeb', to consult the composition of medications before their use.
