ASOBAL has signed an agreement for the next four seasons with the Spanish Commission for Anti-Doping in Sport (CELAD), establishing the foundations of a project that continues to maintain the practice of a healthy, fair and clean handball in the Plenitude League. The collaboration agreement was signed this morning at the CELAD headquarters and was attended by Silvia Calzón Fernández, director of CELAD, and Servando Revuelta, president of ASOBAL. "We celebrate being able to count on ASOBAL with the work of a reference entity in the sports field such as CELAD. We add new synergies, tools and experience to set the foundations of a project that guarantees health, honesty and the correct functioning of the Plenitude League", explains the maximum responsible of ASOBAL, valuing the dimension of CELAD, which works with the most important sports entities in our country, leading the training work in the fight against doping.
"For CELAD it is very important to be able to boost collaboration with a professional League like ASOBAL. Our priority is to protect the rights of our athletes so that they can develop their sports career in a healthy and fair way, on equal terms", points out Silvia Calzón. ASOBAL and CELAD, precisely, have defined a roadmap that goes -firstly- through carrying out different prevention actions both to athletes and all their support staff, emphasizing health departments and technical staff.
CELAD will carry out different trainings on specific aspects of doping prevention and current regulations, as well as principles, values and ethics of clean sport. These trainings, a minimum of three annually, will take place in the different scenarios within the team dynamics of the Plenitude League taking advantage -if considered appropriate- the different competition windows of their match calendar. ASOBAL will work to define the best conditions for the organization of these activities and guarantee, in this way, the greatest dissemination of the common program, giving all possible visibility to the work of CELAD.
"Both information and training are basic pillars in doping prevention. We need to establish synergies and collaboration networks with sports institutions to reach our target audiences effectively. These actions will allow us to work together with the Athlete Support Staff, who almost always works in the shadows and is a maximum reference in motivation and values for the athletes they accompany", comments the director of the entity, Silvia Calzón Fernández.
ASOBAL's work will also focus on transferring this awareness and training material off the court through educational events organized specifically to continue guaranteeing the correct functioning of the Plenitude League. "The agreement that ASOBAL has reached with CELAD seeks to continue training and raising awareness among the great references of the elite of Spanish male handball clubs and the idols of the future", points out Servando Revuelta. ASOBAL and CELAD will also focus on the digital community of Spanish handball, carrying out a work of dissemination of audiovisual content and promotional elements in favor of a fair and clean sport, against doping in sport, spreading respect, the value of personal effort and teamwork and their transfers to daily life, as well as messages with educational and formative content in the matter.
