ASOBAL launches the third edition of its Hall of Fame, an initiative already established as a reference space to preserve and highlight the legacy of elite handball in Spain. Beyond sports recognition, the 'Hall of Fame ASOBAL' aims to bring the trajectory, milestones and experiences of those who helped build the identity of the competition to new generations, highlighting their achievements and their impact on the development of the sport.
Albert Rocas, David Barrufet, László Nagy, Mateo Garralda, Rafa Guijosa, Raúl González, Luis Miguel López (Journalist), Manolo Cadenas (Coach), Manolo Laguna (Coach) and Ángel Sabroso (Referee) are the nominees for the third edition of the 'Hall of Fame ASOBAL', selected by the Commission of Merits and Rewards of the project. Of these ten candidates, only five will finally be included in the third generation of the hall of fame, which after its first two editions already has twelve iconic emblems of the talent and history of the ASOBAL League.
The voting process that will decide the new members will take place in two complementary phases, active from this Thursday, April 2nd and until April 15th. On the one hand, the Hall of Fame ASOBAL Jury will intervene, presided over by the president of ASOBAL, Servando Revuelta, and made up of representatives of the Superior Council of Sports (CSD), the Royal Spanish Handball Federation (RFEBM), the Association of Handball Players (AJBM), the European Handball League Board (EHLB), as well as members of the sports press and the historic clubs that dispute the current NEXUS ENERGY ASOBAL League.
In parallel, all fans will be able to participate in an open vote directed to the ASOBAL Community through a form available on the specific microsite of the 'Hall of Fame ASOBAL'. Among all participants, three official balls of the NEXUS ENERGY ASOBAL League, the Kipsta HB900 from Decathlon, will be raffled off. On April 15th, the voting period will end and ASOBAL will announce the five new members of the Hall of Fame, consolidating an initiative already established as one of the most representative recognitions of Spanish handball.
With them, the Hall of Fame ASOBAL will continue to expand a list of legends in which referents such as Talant Dujshebaev, Enric Masip, Juanín García, Jota Hombrados, Juan de Dios Román, Ramón Gallego and Cecilio Alonso (first edition), along with Alberto Entrerríos, Cristina Fernández Piñeiro, Lorenzo Rico, Valero Rivera and Veselin Vujović (second edition) already appear.
