Ecoembes, ASOBAL and Bathco BM. Torrelavega have presented this morning at the Vicente Trueba Pavilion a new edition of the campaign ?We Are Special, We Recycle,? which aims to promote recycling and sustainability habits among the audience of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL, framed within the activation program of the ASOBAL Legacy League (ALL) and the agreement between the professional competition and the environmental organization.

?We want to set a path from ASOBAL to be distinctive and for the league to be sustainable. Bathco BM. Torrelavega has adapted to the new demands of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL and I am convinced that this action will be a success,? explained the President of ASOBAL, Servando Revuelta during the event, which also counted on the presence of Roberto Media, Minister of Development, Housing, Territorial Planning and Environment of the Government of Cantabria; Javier López Estrada, Mayor of Torrelavega; and Pedro Pérez, Councilor of Economy, Finance, Industry, Citizen Security, Water Service, Waste Collection and Street Cleaning, National Livestock Market and European Projects of the Torrelavega City Council; Blanca Rosa Gómez, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Aguas Torrelavega; Fernando Blázquez, Manager of Ecoembes in Cantabria; and Alberto Marchante, CSR Manager of BM Torrelavega.

The objective of this joint initiative is to improve and increase citizen participation in the recovery of packaging both in the sports facilities of the Vicente Trueba pavilion and in the homes of ASOBAL fans. For this purpose, yellow containers - for cans, cartons and plastic packaging - and blue containers - for paper and cardboard - have been installed in different areas of the pavilion.

?This campaign demonstrates that Bathco BM. Torrelavega is an example not only in sport but also in values and social responsibility,? pointed out the mayor of Torrelavega, Javier López, in line with the speech of Fernando Blázquez, Manager of Ecoembes in Cantabria, who commented that it is ?an action with which we unite sport, environment and care for our people.?

The campaign combines sustainability and solidarity through a challenge launched to the fans that consists of correctly separating 5,000 containers. If by the end of the campaign period - at the end of the first round of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL calendar - this packaging recovery milestone is achieved, Ecoembes will deliver a total of ?5,000 to the Bathco BM. Torrelavega Foundation, which will be allocated to a social cause. ?The initiative fits perfectly into our responsibility program and also helps us improve the recycling system of the Vicente Trueba Pavilion,? explained the CSR executive of Bathco BM. Torrelavega, Alberto Marchante.

?Selective collection is essential to help the environment. The challenge consists of collecting 5,000 containers from now until the end of the first round. If achieved, the amount of ?5,000 will be granted to the club?s Foundation, which will be destined for social causes,? said Roberto Media, Minister of Development, Housing, Territorial Planning and Environment of the Government of Cantabria.

Communication and awareness campaign

The campaign will also launch different actions to raise awareness among all parties involved. Training, communication and awareness-raising tasks will be carried out among cleaning teams, volunteers, hospitality staff and personnel of the Cantabrian club, as well as among the social base and fans of the elite of Spanish men's handball clubs. Activations on match days of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL will be key to achieving the campaign?s objectives.
