The ASOBAL League has closed this afternoon the Plenitude League 2024/2025 with the ASOBAL Gala, revealing that the MVP of the season has been the captain of Fraikin BM. Granollers, Antonio García. The left back has been one of the main protagonists of the event that has been celebrated at the VillaMadrid Hotel in Madrid and that has brought together the big names of the professional competition, between the tribute to its 40th anniversary with the Hall of Fame and the excellence of the 'School of Talent' through the All Star.
Cristina Fernández Piñeiro, Lorenzo Rico, Valero Rivera, Veselin Vujovic and Alberto Entrerríos -through a heartfelt video after fulfilling his coaching obligations- have been the first to command the attention of all the spotlights during the second Hall of Fame induction ceremony of the professional competition, writing their name in a new historical book of ASOBAL.
The event also featured the presence of Aitor Canibe, Deputy Director General of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), Javier Lozano, president of the National Futsal League (LNFS), Pablo Vilches, general director of the Liga F, or Francisco Blázquez, president of the Royal Spanish Handball Federation (RFEBM), among a wide range of authorities. Jose Montero, Director of Institutional Relations of LALIGA, Jose Antonio Palomo, Commercial Director of Hummel, Jaume Peleja, marketing director of Panini, or Vicente Martínez, secretary general of the Spanish Sport Association (ADESP), have headed the representation of the different strategic partners of ASOBAL, also part of this year's Gala.
The clubs and sports excellence
The ceremony, far from being limited to the action of the ball, has focused on the work of the clubs, cornerstone of the growth of ASOBAL through initiatives such as the ASOBAL Legacy League (ALL), pioneering project in Spanish sport in terms of social, economic and environmental sustainability, expanding the margins of the product of the professional competition.
The Gala also wanted to reward the legacy of the players who have decided to put an end to their career this summer after more than a decade being part of the tracks of the elite of Spanish male handball clubs. Isaías and Gedeón Guardiola (Viveros Herol BM. Nava) Adrià Pérez (Bada Huesca) and Antonio García (Fraikin BM. Granollers) have received the tribute of ASOBAL, as well as the recognition and affection of the attendees at the event.
Referees Andreu Marín and Nacho García Serradilla have collected a new distinction for best refereeing work, goalkeeper of Bathco BM. Torrelavega Carlos Calle has lifted the award for best save and the player of Recoletas At. Valladolid Alejandro Pisonero the one for best goal of the season. Carlos Álvarez also took the stage after revalidating the trophy for top scorer of the Plenitude League 2024/2025 (178 goals).
The All Star was the last block of the Gala. Ángel Fernández (Best left winger | Bathco BM. Torrelavega), Antonio García (Best left back | Fraikin BM. Granollers), Gorka Nieto (Best center | IRUDEK Bidasoa Irun), Carlos Álvarez (Best right winger | ABANCA Ademar León), Víctor Romero (Best pivot | Fraikin BM. Granollers), Pau Guitart (Breakthrough player | Tubos Aranda Villa de Aranda) and Javier Márquez (Best coach | Tubos Aranda Villa de Aranda) have received their award as members of the ideal team of the season. Antonio García, putting the finishing touch to his career and a day marked by emotions, has collected his MVP award from the Plenitude League 2024/2025 hours after playing his last game as an active player.
