4,156 fans enjoyed live and from the stands at the Quijote Arena the match between BM. Caserío Ciudad Real and Fraikin BM. Granollers of the fifth round of the NEXUS ENERGY ASOBAL League, setting the attendance record for the 2026/2027 season. A figure that highlights the sporting moment of the professional competition, true to an identity based on equality, excitement, and spectacle, both inside and outside the 40x20 court.

Fans witnessed one of the most spectacular matches of this early official calendar phase, with two of the best-form teams so far, a close finish, and a decisive goal just seconds before the 60th minute by Jorge Maqueda, who led the individual performances category. The photo of the celebration at the Manchego pavilion defines the evolution and impact of the ASOBAL brand, which continues to grow, driven by its professionalization process, the development of strategic projects such as ASOBAL TV, one of this season's main novelties, and the synergies that the competition establishes season after season with partners, entities, fans, and media.

The result is the development of an increasingly complete and immersive matchday experience, not only at BM. Caserío Ciudad Real’s court, which also recorded the second-best attendance figure of the current NEXUS ENERGY ASOBAL League edition (round 4, BM. Caserío Ciudad Real-ABANCA Ademar León with 3,647 spectators). A trend that extends to other sports venues, such as Santiago Manguán, which presented a full house this round 5 in the match between Tubos Aranda Villa de Aranda-Barça, Vicente Trueba of Bathco BM. Torrelavega, or O Gatañal of Frigoríficos del Morrazo, among many others.

New figures after a record season

A combination of goals that caused the 2025/2026 season to achieve the best attendance records of the last decade in ASOBAL handball, consolidating a growth trend that goes beyond purely sporting aspects and strengthens the competition’s positioning in terms of fan connection, matchday experience, and the value of the professional competition product.

A total of 395,780 spectators accompanied the clubs of the NEXUS ENERGY ASOBAL League last year, making the 25/26 edition the one with the highest attendance since the 2012/13 campaign. The average attendance, standing at 1,649 spectators per match, reflects the positive trend of a competition that continues to expand its reach and consolidate sustained growth in recent seasons.
