ASOBAL launches the 2025/26 edition of the professional competition All Star game

With the conclusion of the 36th edition of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL, ASOBAL launches a new edition of the All Star ASOBAL 2025/26, an initiative that goes beyond individual recognition of the season's best to become a reflection of the talent, competitiveness, and sporting excellence that define the professional handball competition in Spain. Through these awards, the Professional League honors the players and coaches who have shaped the championship's development, while highlighting the work of the clubs and the level of a competition established as the main showcase of Spanish men's professional handball.

The categories that make up the All Star ASOBAL 2025/2026 include distinctions for best goalkeeper, best left wing, best left back, best center back, best right back, best right wing, best pivot, best coach, breakthrough player, and best defender—awards aimed at recognizing individual performance in each position while simultaneously reinforcing the importance of handball as a team sport.

List of criteria

The candidates to be part of the ideal ASOBAL team have been selected based on a comprehensive evaluation of individual statistics from the current Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL season, their presence in various sports recognition platforms (ideal 7, MVP of the Matchday, nominations for the MVP NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL), their performance within the collective context, and their ability to embody the values of sportsmanship, commitment, dedication, and respect that characterize our sport.

In the case of the breakthrough player and best coach categories, consideration is also given to their impact on the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL 2025/26, their sporting growth compared to previous seasons, the achievement of significant milestones within the professional competition's records, as well as their direct contribution to the results and sporting successes achieved by their teams.

Voting system

The voting process for the All Star ASOBAL 2025/26 will be carried out in stages. The nominees will be revealed by groups and positions starting next Friday, June 12, and until June 24, during which the winners of each category will be progressively announced. The selection system reinforces the participatory and open nature of the All Star ASOBAL.

Fan votes will account for 40% of the final result and will be conducted through exclusive polls enabled on ASOBAL’s official WhatsApp channel (Access HERE), aligning with the competition’s commitment to placing the fan at the center of the experience and strengthening the direct connection with the professional handball community. This percentage will be complemented by votes from ASOBAL clubs (40%), channeled through the 16 captains, coaches, and a representative from the management or board of each entity, along with the input of specialized sports press (20%).

Thus, the final decision for each category is built from a plural, balanced, and representative perspective of the entire professional handball community. Once the votes from the different involved sectors are tallied, the winners of each category will be announced through ASOBAL’s official website and social media channels.

The ‘Ideal 7’, a precursor to the MVP ASOBAL 2025/26

Beyond the positional distinctions, the All Star ASOBAL strengthens its value within the professional competition by establishing itself as a preliminary step in the race toward the highest individual recognition. Players selected as the best in their respective positions not only receive this acknowledgment but also automatically become candidates for the MVP of the 2025/26 Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL season.

The MVP represents the championship’s highest individual honor, reserved for those players capable of decisively influencing the development and rhythm of the competition throughout the season, becoming part of those who have defined the sporting history of the Liga NEXUS ENERGÍA ASOBAL.
